...a place to visit - Draguignan
Draguignan is one of the larger towns of Provence with a law court and administration for this area. It is a lively town all year round and is serving many of the smaller villages around it with all the amenities one could wish for.
It derives its name from a legend - the dragon of Draguignan. Its origins go back to a Roman fortification which stood on the hill where the clock tower stands today.
A
modern, well equipped hospital and a large number of specialist doctors
with their own practices serve the whole area. The theatre and other cultural
events are equally as important as the large commercial community.
It also has a provençal market every Wednesday & Saturday morning and a smaller fruit and vegetable market every day.
